Volunteer McKinney Center presents a look at ways you can get involved and help your community.
–Hospice Care. Compassionate Care Hospice of North Texas provides medical, nutritional, social and spiritual services to patients during the final stage of their lives. Volunteers can offer support to families of patients by reading a favorite book, helping with household chores, or simply bringing comfort by visiting. If you can provide assistance for patients of this McKinney organization, please contact Michele Bowerman at 972-547-3600.
–Build and Maintain Homes. North Collin County Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to help build and refurbish homes. Adults and teens are welcome to help reduce homelessness and maintain livable homes. Teens age 14-15 can paint, and those age 16-17 can work on building, but not use power tools. Volunteer to make a difference in your community. Look for “Build and Refurbish Homes” on the VMC web site under New Listings.
–Improve public awareness of MADD. MADD is seeking volunteers to distribute informational literature, bumper stickers, and other materials at community events, fairs, and conventions. This is a great opportunity to meet new people. Volunteers are also needed to work in the MADD office answering phones, typing, collating, putting together information packets, etc. If you can help with either of these positions, go to the VMC web site and look for “Community Outreach” under Updated Listings.
