FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Athlete Watch expands into Europe
St Albans, UK / McKinney, TX – September 12, 2011
Leading UK Academy to now offer the hottest college-recruiting tool in the U.S.
The Advanced Sports Program (St Albans, UK) has teamed up with The Athlete Watch (McKinney, TX), a pro-active platform for student-athletes to market their skills to colleges and universities around the United States.
The Advanced Sports Program, located 25 miles north of London, has made the commitment to help their student-athletes search stateside for academic and athletic scholarships. Behind this pro-active movement is Performance Manager and Sports Science Lecturer, Ryan Freckleton, “here at Oaklands we pride ourselves on being innovative and accommodating for our student-athletes. Once we heard and saw the great work demonstrated by the team at The Athlete Watch, we knew this was something that could enhance the future prospects of our aspiring athletes in the academic and athletic aspects of life.”
After successfully launching at performance training centers in Texas and Kentucky (Michael Johnson Performance Center, XCEL Sport Science & Fitness) it did not take long for The Athlete Watch to show up overseas. “Ryan communicated early on in our discussion that there are services out there trying to take advantage of parents, and are now looking to the U.S. for a cost-effective approach in attracting scholarships,” says Johnny Quinn, Founder and President of The Athlete Watch. “I told Ryan we are having the same problem in the United States; parents are being approached by people and companies to spend thousands of dollars to get their kid recruited. That simply does not need to be the case; the days of companies charging thousands of dollars are over. Sure, they will still be around, but with The Athlete Watch parents now have the option to utilize a cost-effect platform for their son or daughter.”
The Advanced Sports Program partnerships list includes: the Oaklands Basketball Academy, Saracens Rugby Club, Oaklands College Football Programme and has access to Lee Valley Athletics Center. LVAC is an award winning state of the art training facility that carries the largest indoor and outdoor athletic center in London and the South of England. “We are located in close proximity to the Lee Valley High Performance Centre which is one of two state of the art facilities in the country,” says Freckleton. “Some of our athletes have teamed up with coaches at this centre to enable our athletes to interact with like minded athletes which will only improve the quality achieved in training, I am a strong believer that success breeds success which is why we have forged such a link.”
The Athlete Watch is thrilled to have The Advanced Sports Program on board. “The access Oaklands student-athletes have to the Lee Valley Athletic Centre is first class and will be an integral part in designing their skills tapes for them to distribute to college coaches around the U.S.” says the passionate president. “We have tools in place at The Athlete Watch to help all student-athletes and parents who are willing to search for scholarships – no matter where they are located.”
Next up for The Athlete Watch president is studying the NCAA’s International Guide to Academic Standards for Athletic Eligibility. “I stress to student-athletes and parents all the time to make use of the free tools the NCAA has made public and that is exactly what I will be doing now that The Athlete Watch has gone international.”
