Laura Sullivan, RN, changed to nursing from a business career more than 20 years ago and in that move she found her calling.
“I thank God every day for leading me toward this noble profession and for giving me opportunities to touch hearts through healing, teaching and inspiration,” Sullivan said. “The truth is what one gives, one receives and therefore my life is rich.”
Sullivan has spent the last seven years caring for patients admitted to the medical/surgical unit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen.
“Laura possesses the gift of efficiency and technical competency coupled with compassionate care,” her nominator said. “She demonstrates in thought, word, and action her dedication to patient care. Her focus is on providing our patients with the best possible experience and to serve as a true advocate for them as well as their family.”
That combination led to the Special Recognition Award for Sullivan at the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Employee of the Year luncheon.
“Laura embodies our mission to care for each patient – body, mind and spirit,” said Jeff Reecer, hospital president. “She sets the bar high for herself and for others on her unit. Laura also takes time to mentor students, imparting the skills and caring attitude to each of them.”
