Suspect in McKinney Stabbing Arrested and Charged

mckinney_police_departmentThe McKinney Police Department has identified and charged a suspect in the stabbing of a previously unidentified man on August 4. Sergio Eduardo Valdez, 19, has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon for the stabbing of Roman Meza, 20.

The alleged assault took place in the 2200 block of Amherst Circle early Sunday morning. Upon arriving on the scene, McKinney police officers discovered a large crowd attending a party in the area. Witnesses on the scene told the McKinney Police that a large fight broke out in the street. The witnesses said that during the fight a 20-year-old male was stabbed multiple times.

Valdez was recently arrested by the Mesquite Police Department on unrelated charges and is currently the Dallas County Jail. Valdez’s bond has been set at $100,000 for the Aggravated Assault charge.

McKinney Police say that the investigation is currently ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
