The McKinney Police Department has identified the suspect in the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl at a McKinney Target store in June.
The identity of the suspect is not being released to the public at this time because the McKinney Police are currently determining the charges to be filed against the man. Sergeant Chad Barker of the McKinney Police Department told TownSquareBuzz.com that the suspect was recently arrested on separate charges and is currently in police custody in South Texas.
McKinney Police say the suspect is not in the area and not an immediate threat to anyone.
“He’s not in the area and not an immediate threat to anyone,” Sergeant Barker of the told TSB on Tuesday.
The alleged assault took place on June 28 at the Target store located at 2025 North Central Expressway. According to the initial release from the McKinney Police Department, the man approached a 10-year-old girl while she was separated from her mother by several store aisles. The man allegedly patted the child on the buttocks and told her she was sexy. The distraught child ran to her mother who then contacted a store employee to help locate the suspect. They were unable locate the man inside the store.
Surveillance video from inside the store showed the girl in the electronics section while the suspect was watching her from the next aisle and allegedly masturbating. The suspect made physical contact with the victim out of view of the camera.
Surveillance video also captured the man leaving the store and the McKinney Police released the video in the hopes of identifying the man.
