Matt Hamilton came by his love for the land naturally. He grew up in production and commercial agriculture on his family’s farm center in Oklahoma. “We were in the peanut handling business,” he said. “Peanuts and grain elevator were a big part of our income.” When that was no longer viable he went into the corporate world.
The biggest life change for Matt however was when he met his now wife. “She changed the way I looked at food,” he said. “We (had gotten) away from my roots; small production agriculture.”
And so began a journey, which led to, Local Yocal Farm to Market in McKinney.
Matt’s enthusiasm for the farm to market concept is almost zealot-like. Listen in as he tracks us through his path and shares his secret to finding the best steak in a restaurant or grilled over mesquite right at home.
You can go to a lot of establishments in McKinney and the Dallas area and find Local Yocal beef. But if you are looking to prepare a great tasting, good for you farm to market meal at home, go visit Matt at the store in historic downtown McKinney.
