AUSTIN – Speaker of the House Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) announced committee assignments Thursday for the 83rd Session of the Texas House of Representatives, appointing State Representative Jeff Leach to the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, House Committee on Urban Affairs and House Committee on Rules and Resolutions.
In response to these appointments, Representative Leach stated “I am excited about my committee assignments and look forward to continuing my work on behalf of the people of District 67 and the State of Texas in this capacity. In addition to working on my own legislative agenda in the Texas House, these appointments will allow me the opportunity to further represent the values and concerns of my constituents, and I look forward to a productive session.”
A fourth-generation Texan, born and raised in Plano, Representative Jeff Leach graduated from Plano Senior High before attending Baylor University, where he served as Student Body President for two consecutive terms. He went on to earn his law degree from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and currently practices at the Texas law firm of Looper, Reed & McGraw, P.C., specializing in general and civil commercial litigation, real estate and construction law. Representative Leach and his wife Becky live in Plano and are the proud parents of Brady (age four) and Charlotte (age two). They are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church, serving for several years in the Young Families Ministry.
