Girls Soccer Playoffs
McKinney Boyd 2, Richardson 0: The Lady Broncos won their 5A postseason opener at home thanks to sterling defense and goals by Libby Murphy and Taylor Cobb.
McKinney High 2, Richardson Pearce 1: The Lionettes won their 5A opener at Ron Poe Stadium behind goals by Morgan Ford and Catherine Millar.
Highland Park 4, McKinney North 1: The Lady Bulldogs lost in the area round Friday night at Toyota Stadium. Hope Hyde scored two goals for Highland Park. The Lady Dawgs’ season ended, but not before they won a playoff game on Tuesday, 1-0, over Frisco Liberty, in the bi-district round at Ron Poe Stadium.
Boys Soccer Playoffs
Lake Highlands 1, McKinney High 0: The Lions were eliminated in the bi-district round at Wildcat-Ram Stadium as Wes Osborn of Lake Highlands provided the only goal of the night.
McKinney Boyd 6, Dallas Skyline 1: The Broncos opened 5A postseason play with a blowout win at home on Friday. Cody Spitzer led with two goals scored. Also scoring for Boyd were Braeden Andrews, Pablo Jaimes, Connor Kennedy and Patrick Neuwman.
McKinney Boyd 4, McKinney High 2: The Broncos came out on top Friday in a crosstown showdown at Boyd. These teams will play once more, as they finish the regular season against one another April 17 at MHS. Erin Riding beat Chelsea Thomas in the pitching battle. Carly Nicklas of Boyd tripled and doubled to lead all hitters.
McKinney North 11, Sherman 1: The Lady Dawgs blew out another opponent, this one on the road Friday. North has won its past four games by a combined score of 53-10.
Plano West 6, McKinney High 3: The slumping Lions lost on the road Friday, marking their sixth consecutive loss.
Allen 8, McKinney Boyd 3: The Broncos hosted their neighboring rivals on Friday night, with similar results to earlier in the week. Just three days earlier, Allen beat Boyd 3-2 at Allen. And on Friday, Boyd lost despite outhitting Allen 8-6.Francisco DeJesus got on base four times for Boyd with an RBI, as well. Braxton Webb took the loss on the mound. He was knocked out of the game in second inning, having walked five, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
McKinney North 17, Denison 4: The Bulldogs’ bats were on fire on the road Friday at Denision as the team bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Wylie East three days earlier.
