There were no soccer matches on this final Friday night of spring break. Instead, soccer fans prepare for regular season-ending showdowns between the McKinney High and McKinney Boyd boys and girls squads on Tuesday.
But this Friday did produce some exciting baseball, including big wins by McKinney North and Boyd, and the McKinney High softball team was also in action.
Without further adieu, the scores …
McKinney North 2, Lovejoy 0: The Bulldogs’ Luke Bay didn’t allow a run to Lovejoy during Friday’s District 13-4A victory (pictured above). North improved to 2-1 in district play and Lovejoy fell to 2-1. Preston Speers had two doubles for the ‘Dogs and Gabe Constantine also doubled. North and Lovejoy are tied behind Wylie East (3-0) for second place in the young district season.
McKinney Boyd 7, Plano West 5: The Broncos (16-2-1 overall, 2-0 in District 10-5A) finished the series “sweep” after opening district season with a 9-0 win at Plano West (2-12, 0-2) three days earlier. Blake Wilson was Friday’s winning pitcher for the Broncos while Tommy Nawa and Casen Kandel each doubled.
Plano High 15, McKinney High 3: The Lions (9-6-3, 0-2 in 10-5A) lost in a Friday rout at Plano Senior High. Plano (12-8-1, 2-0) also beat MHS 6-0 three days earlier at Al Alford Stadium. Brett Gannaway got the loss on the mound for the Lions on Friday.
Lewisville 4, McKinney High 1: The Lionettes (9-8) lost on the road Friday in a non-district contest. It came two days after they had beaten Frisco Wakeland 4-1 at home in another spring break contest. Jessica Nelson tripled to lead Lewisville (16-5 overall).
