Spring Scoreboard: Big Wins for Boyd Boys Soccer and North, Boyd Softball on Friday

A wrap-up of McKinney ISD high school varsity team sports from Friday, March 7:

Boys Soccer

McKinney Boyd 5, Allen 0: A dominating District 10-5A win for Boyd on Friday at Boyd. Goals were scored by: K. Bennet (2) ’28, ’74, H. Brown ’11, P. Jaimes ’53, B. Tafirayi ’62 Assists made by: P. Jaimes (1), B. Bambico (1), T. Marchino (1), C. Verhoev (1) Shutout led by GK- E. Davies, and the rest of the defensive line: B. Maher, B. Bambico, T. Marchino, C. Kennedy, and C. Verhoev.

Prosper 2, McKinney North 0: Zach Peterson scored both goals for the Eagles as they spoiled the Bulldogs’ Senior Night and remained unbeaten in district play.

McKinney High 1, Plano West 1: David Soto scored MHS’ lone goal in Friday night’s tie in a district match. Just minutes into the second half, the Lions leading scorer and senior captain Soto smashed in his free kick from the edge of the box following a hard foul on senior forward Dante Nunez during a breakaway.

Girls Soccer

McKinney Boyd 0, Allen 0: The game ended in a scoreless tie at Allen. The Lady Broncos are still tied for 1st in District 10-5A with a 4-1-3 record. Boyd’s overall record 13-2-4.

McKinney High 0, Plano West 0: Neither team managed a goal in this District 10-5A contest at MHS.

Prosper 1, McKinney North 0: The Lady Bulldogs were shut out on the road Friday.


McKinney North 4, Sherman 2 (Wednesday): The Bulldogs won their District 13-4A opener at home. Gabe Constantine got the win on the mound and a double at the plate. North travels to Duncanville on Saturday afternoon.

McKinney Boyd Goes 2-2 So Far at Frisco Tournament: The Broncos beat Rockwall-Heath 7-6 and lost 9-2 to Hebron on Friday at the Frisco Tournament of Champions. In Thursday action, Boyd lost 4-2 to Lovejoy and defeated Frisco Liberty 7-5. The Broncos will finish tournament play Saturday.

McKinney High 7, Little Elm 7: The teams tied at the Denison Tournament on Friday. On Thursday, MHS tied Fort Smith 5-5 and beat Wichita Falls Rider 7-5 in tournament play. MHS will next play host to Justin Northwest on Saturday morning at Al Alford Field.


McKinney Boyd 5, Plano West 4: The Lady Broncos won their District 10-5A opener Friday night at home. Erin Riding was the winning pitcher. Izzi Pate got a triple for Boyd.

McKinney North 17, Royse City 4: The Lady Bulldogs followed up their district-opening 11-0 home win over Sherman on Wednesday with another blowout win Friday on the road. Mikala Coxwell, Zoe Goodman and Celeste Verdolivo homered for North. Verdolivo got the win on the mound in both games.

Plano High 10, McKinney High 4: The Lionettes lost their District 10-5A opener on the road in Plano. Jazsmine Nelson and Krissy Fontillas doubled for McKinney.
