Meet Snicker, a happy, 3-year-old, brindle Pit Bull mix who is not only beautiful, but super intelligent and lots of fun, too. She knows how to enjoy life and loves playing fetch, Frisbee, swimming and going for walks. But she also really loves a quiet, relaxing petting session with her humans. While at the shelter, the volunteers spend a lot of time giving her relaxing massages. She’s become quite a fan of them and will even roll over on her back for belly rubs! As you can see from her picture, she is a gorgeous brindle with the cutest floppy ears and precious underbite. She’s great on a leash and would make an excellent walking buddy. She is a smart cookie who will amaze you with all of the things she knows including sit, stay, come, down and shake. Oh, and she can also open the levers on doors with her paws! She has a couple of canine best friends here at the shelter, and they love to have play time in the yards. But she can sometimes be picky about her canine friends, so if you currently have any dogs at home, you can bring them by for a meet and greet with her at the shelter. That way you can see how we all get along. Some of the volunteers noticed that she can sometimes be nervous and intimidated around men. Because of that, her ideal home would be with the ladies, but she would be happy to meet the men in your home to make sure she is comfortable around them. She also might do better in a home without children (particularly small children or toddlers) as they tend to not be very gentle when touching her and this can make her afraid. But don’t be mistaken, she’s just a big ‘ole love bug who really just wants to be your cuddle buddy. Her previous owners noted that she is completely housebroken, but she might need a little refresher after being in the shelter. She is also crate trained. She’s typically a very happy gal, but she has been a little bit sad since she’s been here in the shelter waiting for her new family to find her. The good news is that the staff and volunteers love her to pieces and have been giving her lots of extra love and attention. She has been spayed, microchipped and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. Please come by and visit her today. She will melt your heart. She can’t wait to settle into her new home with you! Hugs and kisses! Love, Snicker. #106909
Meet Savanna, a 1-year-old, 7 pound, blue tabby cat. She has a pretty face with a dark “M” on her forehead, the distinctive mark of a tabby. Her breed is Domestic Shorthair mix. Her humans surrendered her to the SPCA of Texas on August 1 to find a new home because there were too many animals in their home. They say really nice things about her; like that she is “very sweet”, was a “good mother”, “plays gently” and is “very affectionate.” She has been spayed, tested for FIV/FeLV (she’s negative), microchipped and has received age-appropriate vaccinations. She’s a little timid with strangers, but loves when they pet her while talking softly. She likes all kinds of gentle petting, especially what her family calls “sandwich head”. They pet her head while their fingers are under her chin. She’s never been with children or dogs, but gets along with cats. She likes climbing, occasional catnip and watching the feather wand. Stop in today! You can visit each other and you’ll be BFFF-Best Furry Friends Forever! #142330
