The highlight of the MISD softball schedule on Tuesday night was the first of two meetings this season between the two crosstown rivals, McKinney High and McKinney Boyd, as the Lionettes and Lady Broncos squared off at MHS. Also on the diamond, the Lady Bulldogs looked for a 13-4A win over Denison at North. Below are scores and recaps from the games:
MHS Tops Boyd in Crosstown Matchup:
McKinney High (1-4) outlasted Boyd (3-2) 9-8 on Tuesday night at MHS to win the first of two games between the crosstown rivals this season. Chelsea Thomas was the winning pitcher for the Lionettes, who won their first District 10-5A contest, while Riley Wagner took the loss in the circle for Boyd.
Krissy Fontillas and Thomas each doubled once in the game for McKinney, while Bailey-Jo Jones homered twice and added a double at the plate for the Lady Broncos.
The teams combined for nine errors in the field, with MHS committing five and Boyd committing four.
Boyd will host Plano West (3-2) on Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. McKinney will visit Plano (3-2) on Thursday night, beginning at 7 p.m.
McKinney North:
The Lady Bulldogs (6-1) cruised to a 10-3 home victory over Denison on Tuesday night. No stats were reported to TSB.
North will host Sherman on Friday night, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
