The final stretch of the district season has begun for all three MISD softball programs, as all three are looking to make postseason trips in 2013. With MHS hosting Plano East and Boyd traveling to Plano, the Lionettes had a chance to gain ground of the final playoff spot in District 10-5A. Meanwhile at North, the Lady Bulldogs were looking to win their sixth in a row at Royse City. Below are scores and recaps from the games:
The Lionettes (3-4) shut out Plano East 6-0 at home on Friday night, earning their third 10-5A win of the season. Chelsea Thomas was the winning pitcher in the circle for McKinney.
Thomas homered twice in the game for the Lionettes at the plate, while Krissy Fontillas added one home run of her own. Courtney Derrick contributed with one double as well, part of McKinney’s five hits in the game.
McKinney will visit Plano West (4-3) on Tuesday night, beginning at 7 p.m.
The Lady Broncos (4-3) fell 5-3 at Plano on Friday night, forcing a three-way tie for second place in District 10-5A with the Lady Wildcats and Plano West. Erin Riding was the losing pitcher in the circle for Boyd.
Boyd mustered just six hits on the night versus Plano, but the biggest hit was a home run by McKenna Henry.
Boyd will host Allen (1-6) on Tuesday night, beginning at 7 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs (9-1) topped Royse City 9-4 on the road Friday night, improving their winning streak to six games.
