Softball Scoreboard: Boyd, North Grab Key District Wins; Lionettes Lose to Plano West

With just a handful of district games remaining, all three MISD softball teams have playoff aspirations and the postseason in sight. With MHS and North both on the road and Boyd hosting Allen, Tuesday night was a big night for softball around McKinney. Below are scores and recaps from the action on the diamond:

McKinney High:

The Lionettes lost 2-0 at Plano West on Tuesday night in District 10-5A action. Chelsea Thomas was the losing pitcher in the circle for McKinney (3-5).

McKinney mustered just one hit off Plano West’s Marissa Butler, as the Lionettes were outhit 5-1 by the Lady Wolves. Neither team committed an error defensively.

McKinney remains one game behind fourth-place Plano (4-4) with two games left in district play. The Lionettes host Allen (1-7) on Friday night, beginning at 7 p.m.

McKinney Boyd:

The Lady Broncos beat Allen 5-0 at home on Tuesday night to force a two-way tie for second place with Plano West. No stats were reported to TSB.

Boyd (5-3) will visit Plano East (6-2) on Friday night, beginning at 7 p.m. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Broncos 9-3 at Boyd on Mar. 22.

McKinney North:

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Wylie 8-5 on the road in District 13-4A play. Celeste Verdolivo was the winning pitcher for North (9-2).

Alli Lindsey had a double in the game, one of four hits on the night for the Lady Bulldogs. Both teams combined to commit nine errors in the game, with Wylie committing five and North four.

North will host Greenville on Friday night, beginning at 7 p.m.
