McKinney Boyd finished the District 10-5A softball schedule a perfect 14-0 on Friday night by crushing North Garland on the road 18-1. Riley Wagner earned the win on the hill for the Lady Broncos. Boyd had a huge game at the plate, accounting for 11 extra base hits in the ball game. Wagner helped herself out with a double and a triple at the dish, while Carly Nicklas knocked three doubles and one triple and McKenna Henry crushed two doubles and one triple. Sam Stockford also accounted for two of the Lady Broncos 8 doubles. Boyd will likely face Richardson High School in the bi-district round of the UIL State softball tournament beginning next week.
McKinney High notched its 10th victory in District 10-4A play by defeating Highland Park 7-1 on the road, securing the number three seed in the standings heading into the playoffs. Chelsea Thomas was the winning pitcher for the Lionettes while also contributing at the plate with a home run. MHS will likely see Frisco Centennial in the bi-district round of the UIL State softball tournament.
McKinney North dropped its season finale versus Wylie by a score of 9-2, officially locking the Lady Bulldogs into the fourth seed in District 10-4A. North could not overcome the five errors in the field, and with the loss the Lady Bulldogs finish 9-5 in district play and will likely face District 9-4A champion Frisco Wakeland in the bi-district round of the UIL State softball tournament.
