Softball Playoffs: North Shutout at Sulphur Springs in Game One of Bi-District Series

By Mike Bruu, TSB Sports Editor

McKinney North will fight to remain in post-season play on Saturday, after the Lady Bulldogs were shut out 9-0 at Sulphur Springs in game one of the best-of-three Bi-district round series Friday night. Game two is scheduled for Saturday morning, beginning at 10 a.m. at North.

The Lady Bulldogs had a rough night in the field, committing six errors behind starter Celeste Verdolivo. Behind the North errors, Sulphur Springs scored three runs in the second, and six in the fifth inning to shutout the Lady Bulldogs by nine.

North is hoping to avoid its fifth consecutive trip to the playoffs ending in the first round. After advancing to the Regional Semifinals in 2008, the Lady Bulldogs were eliminated in the Bi-district round twice by Rockwall and Frisco Wakeland.
