After a 10-0 run rule victory over W.T. White on Friday night, the McKinney Boyd Lady Broncos made quick work over the Longhorns on Saturday afternoon, completing a UIL Softball bi-district round sweep with a 19-0 victory.
In a mistmatch between the No. 1 seed in District 10-5A versus the No. 4 seed in District 9-5A, the Lady Broncos were able to outscore W.T. White 29-0 in the two games. On Saturday, Boyd had 21 hits at the plate that included three home runs. Jill Nicklas had the big shot of the day, knocking a grand slam for the Lady Broncos.
Sophomore Erin Riding was able to get a break on Saturday, throwing just three innings. Sophomore Carly Nicklas would throw the final two innings before the run rule came into effect. The Longhorns totaled two hits in the game, a little more than 12 hours after being perfect gamed on Friday night by Riding.
Boyd will face Mesquite Horn in the Area round series next week. Horn swept Sachse 2-0 this weekend.
