Soccer Scoreboard: MISD Teams Off to Hot Starts in Area Tournaments

Friday was a busy day for MISD soccer, as each team finished their second day at some of the biggest tournaments around the area. Below are recaps of each match:

McKinney North:

Girls:

The Lady Bulldogs (2-0-1) played two games at the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational, tying one match and winning the other. North tied Canyon Randall 1-1 in the first match of the day and defeated El Paso Del Valle 4-0 in the second match.

Belicia Mendiola scored the lone goal in the match versus Canyon Randall for the Lady Bulldogs, while Mendiola had two goals and Mary Watson and Micaela Mendiola each had one goal in the victory over Del Valle.

North will play Midlothian on Saturday afternoon at Wakeland, beginning at 1 p.m.

Boys:

The Bulldogs (0-3-0) lost both games on Friday at the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational, losing 3-2 versus Wichita Falls Rider and 3-1 versus El Paso El Dorado.

Justin Adler and Scott Bell each scored a goal in the loss versus Wichita Falls Rider, while Florencio Ortiz had the lone goal for the Bulldogs in the loss versus El Dorado.

North will face Palo Duro at Frisco ISD Memorial Stadium, beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

McKinney Boyd:

Girls:

The Lady Broncos (2-1-0) split their two matches on Friday at the Forth Worth Nolan Elite Tournament, topping Austin St. Stephen’s 3-0 and losing the Flower Mound 1-0. Boyd defeated Ursuline 3-1 on Thursday in its season opener.

Adriana D’Emidio, Chloe Fifer, and Brianna Mooibroek each had one goal in the win versus Austin St. Stephen’s, while Flower Mound’s Alexia Hix had the lone goal in the 1-0 defeat.

Boyd will face Keller at Fort Worth Nolan on Saturday morning, beginning at 10 a.m.

Boys:

The Broncos (3-0-0) defeated Haltom 3-0 on Friday night at the Richland Winter Blast Tournament.

Ben Gupton, Connor Kennedy, and Raul Serrano each scored one goal for the Broncos.

McKinney High:

Boys:

The Lions (2-1-0) split their two matches on Friday at the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational, losing the first match 1-0 versus Houston St. Thomas and defeating Wichita Falls 2-1 in the second match.

Cristian Sanchez and Rylan Whan each had a goal in McKinney’s win versus Wichita Falls.

McKinney will face El Paso El Dorado at Frisco Centennial, beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Girls:

The Lionettes (3-0-0) won both of their matches on Friday at the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational, defeating Amarillo Tascosa and Frisco Heritage by scores of 4-0. MHS has won its first three matches by scores of 4-0.

Sarah Morris, Lauran Neely, Natalie Throneberry, and Jessica Wells each one goal in the win versus Tascosa, while Lizzie Naverette, Neely, Devon Prince, and Wells each had a goal in the victory versus Heritage.

McKinney will face Frisco at Pizza Hut Park, beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
