A big Friday night for local teams saw MHS’ girls shut out rival Allen, Boyd’s boys and girls win and North’s girls play well in Forney.
McKinney High 2, Allen 0: The Lionettes took down longtime rival Allen in a shutout on Friday night. Lizzie Naverette and Lauren Neely each scored goals for MHS. The game took place at Allen.
McKinney North Looking Good in North Forney Invitational: The Lady Bulldogs beat North Garland 5-0 on Friday. Jackie Bucy and Belicia Mendiola each scored two goals and Kinsey Gandel scored one. This followed Thursday’s 5-0 win over Mount Pleasant in the same tourney. In that one, Gandel and Mendiola each scored two goals and Holly Gardner added one. The only downer came in Friday’s nightcap, when North lost 3-2 to Mesquite Horn, despite goals from Bucy and Mendiola. North plays Paris North Lamar on Saturday in the tournament.
McKinney Boyd Rolling in Mansfield: The Lady Broncos, ranked No. 1 in the nation, defeated host Mansfield 2-0 on Friday in the Vernon Newson Classic in Mansfield. Allison Coleman and Amanda Elertson each scored a goal. That followed Thursday’s 7-0 win over South Grand Prairie in which Caitlyn Heap got a hat track with three goals and teammates Elertson, Katie Foster, Lindsey Jones and Brianna Mooibroek also scored.
McKinney Boyd 2, Mesquite Horn 0: The Broncos won at home Friday behind goals from Grayson McMurry and Ryan Trayner.
McKinney High 0, Frisco Liberty 0: Friday’s hard-fought battle in McKinney endless in a scoreless tie.
