Friday night was a busy night of non-district soccer action, where the MHS boys team defeated Denton Ryan for head coach Alan Pocock’s 250th victory. Below are the scores for each match on Friday:
McKinney High Boys:
The Lions (5-2-1) defeated Denton Ryan 3-0 on Friday afternoon after topping Frisco Centennial 3-0 on Thursday at the Lobo Invitational in Little Elm. Friday’s win was the 250th victory in head coach Alan Pocock’s career.
Sean Townsend, Chris Garza, and Francisco Manzanarez scored the goals for the Lions in the match.
In the second match of the evening on Friday night, the Lions lost to R.L. Turner 1-0. Fortunately for the Lions, the 20 points in-group play has McKinney playing Little Elm in the semifinal match on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lobo Stadium. The winner of the match earns a berth to the championship match at 4 p.m.
McKinney High Girls:
The Lionettes (5-0-0) defeated Frisco Centennial 1-0 at Lionettes Stadium on Friday night. Natalie Throneberry had the lone goal in the match for McKinney, assisted by Jessica Wells.
MHS returns to action Tuesday night versus McKinney North, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
McKinney North Girls:
The Lady Bulldogs (5-0-3) defeated Rockwall Heath 5-1 in the second match of the Heritage Showcase Tournament.
Hadlie Tucker scored two goals in the match, while Belicia Mendiola Mikhayla White and Alon Encalade all had one goal for North.
North will face Frisco Heritage in the final match on Saturday morning at Heritage H.S., beginning at 9 a.m.
McKinney Boyd Boys:
The Broncos (6-4-1) fell to Coppell 3-2 at home on Friday night in non-district action.
Ben Gupton and Ryan Trayner scored goals in the match for the Broncos.
Boyd will return to action on Tuesday night as the Broncos travel to Mesquite Horn, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
McKinney Boyd Girls:
The Lady Broncos (6-1-3) tied Ursuline 1-1 in non-district action on Friday night.
Boyd will host Flower Mound Marcus on Tuesday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
