Soccer Scoreboard: MHS and North Find Success in Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational

Thursday was a busy day for MISD soccer as McKinney High and North competed with some of the best talent in the state at the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational, while the Bronco boys team compete in Grapvine. Below are summaries of each match:

McKinney High:

Girls:

The Lionettes (1-0-0) topped El Dorado High 4-0 in the opening game of the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational Tournament.

Nathalie Throneberry, who had two goals, Kaelyn Steiz, and Sarah Morris scored goals in the match.

McKinney High returns to the field on Friday afternoon for two matches. The Lionettes face Tascosa at 12 p.m. and Frisco Heritage at 5 p.m. The matches are at Frisco Heritage and Frisco Lone Star, respectively.

Boys:

The Lions (1-0-0) kicked off the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational with a 1-0 victory over Frisco Heritage.

Junior forward David Soto scored in the 30th minute off of junior midfielder Derek Gabel’s flip throw-in.

MHS will face Houston St. Thomas at 2 p.m. and Wichita Falls at 7 p.m. Both matches are at Frisco Lone Star.

McKinney North:

Girls:

The Lady Bulldogs (1-0-0) got off to a good start on Thursday, defeating Plano East 2-0 in the first game of the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational Tournament.

Belicia Mendiola scored both goals in the match for North, with one goal coming in each half.

North will face Canyon Randall at 12 p.m. and El Paso Del Valle at 5 p.m.

Boys:

The Bulldogs (0-1-0) lost their opening game at the Frisco ISD Dr. Pink Invitational Tournament, losing 2-0 to Midlothian.

Brandon Cirilo and Eric Nutt each had one goal in the match for Midlothian.

North will face Wichita Falls Rider at Frisco ISD Memorial Stadium beginning at 12 p.m., and El Paso El Dorado at FC Dallas Stadium beginning at 7 p.m.

McKinney Boyd:

Boys:

The Broncos (2-0-0) got off to a good start on Thursday, winning their first two matches at the Richland Winter Blast Tournament.

Boyd topped Arlington Martin 3-1 in the first match and held off Grapevine 1-0 in the second match.

Sewell Yost had two goals and Ryan Trayner had one goal in the win versus Arlington Martin, while Yost had the lone goal in the win versus Grapevine.

Boyd will face Haltom on Friday night at Grapevine’s Mustang-Panther Stadium, beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Girls:

No scores were reported to TSB.
