McKinney, TX – 5/10/2012 – (Smiles Charity 501(c)3) – Smiles were everywhere as three soldiers and their families moved into their new homes this past Saturday. Sgt. Alan Hornaday, Sgt. Levi Wilson, and Sgt. Robert Aiken along with their families and nearly one hundred well-wishers enjoyed food, live music, and activities as part of a celebration to welcome them to their new neighborhood. The homes were given to the soldiers courtesy of Smiles Charity and Operation Finally Home through a partnership that provides mortgage-free homes for wounded warriors.
The annual Smiles Charity Concert was held over Memorial Day Weekend in 2011 and featured Uncle Kracker. The event drew 15,000 fans and raised $75,000 to go towards the three homes. The construction of the homes was managed by Operation Finally Home.
Smiles Charity will proudly partner with Operation Finally Home again in 2012 to construct two more homes for America’s war wounded heroes. The 2012 Smiles Charity Concert and Festival will again be held over Memorial Day Weekend on Sunday May 27th 5:00-10:00 pm at the Adriatica outdoor concert venue featuring Grammy Nominee David Nail.
About Smiles Charity.
Smiles Charity was founded in 2008 to help build homes for local families in need, with current housing projects for wounded veterans. The results are tangible: Six homes have been built and two more homes will be started in 2012. Its mission is to bring the community together to change the world one home, one family at a time.
