Smiles Charity, along with representatives of some of its largest sponsors, presented a check for $75,000 to Operation Finally Home to support its mission to build homes for deserving families. The $75,000 will be used to build homes for severely wounded soldiers. The check presentation represented the culmination of a year’s worth of planning and hard work by hundreds of volunteers, the support of dozens of local and corporate sponsors, and the generosity of McKinney residents who donated during the annual Smiles Charity Concert.
Smiles Charity has hosted several events throughout 2011 including a successful Fashion Show in February, a Casino Night and Auction in March, a 5K fun run earlier in May, and the recent Smiles Charity Concert and Festival held over Memorial Day weekend. Smiles Charity, a McKinney based 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the community together to change the world one home, one family at time, hosts these community events to spread awareness of the need for affordable housing while at the same time raising money to build homes on a local level.
