Small Business Saturday Celebrates Local Mom-and-Pop Retailers

By Angie Bado, TSB Publisher

This weekend, shoppers are searching out deals. Sandwiched between the Super Bowl of shopping, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, lies Small Business Saturday.  Established in 2012 by credit card company American Express to focus attention on the local mom-and-pop retailers that are the foundation of community business, Small Business Saturday gives local businesses a chance to compete with the big box stores that exercise their huge muscle during the biggest shopping weekend of the year.

Tonight at 6:15 is the tree lighting ceremony at Mitchell Park in downtown McKinney. Many downtown stores will stay open until 8 p.m. Drop by and check out the unique items that McKinney’s small business retailers have to offer during tonight’s unique candelight shopping event. Experience McKinney’s charm and support local business at the same time.

Happy shopping!
