Long-time supporter Marc Sparks and Board President Mark McAndrew each matched every $1,500 donation of a commemorative brick. The money raised from the brick sales will go directly towards Phase 1 of a new homeless family shelter that will house 100 families.
Along with presenting sponsor Capital One and major sponsors Cornwell Jackson, Timber Creek Capital, Developing Solutions, Comegys Investments, Blue Jay Wireless and Splash Media, the community rallied to help people experiencing homelessness and return them to dignity and independence.
Guests supported The Samaritan Inn by bidding on more than 300 silent auction items from 75 local businesses, enjoyed the comedy of Taylor Williamson (America’s Got Talent), the musical talent of Goga Denisov, and a VIP reception with Tim Conway who gave a short performance and shared his most popular TV sketch.
The 8th Annual Gala was sold-out weeks before the event. With nearly 700 people in attendance at the Marriott Legacy in Plano, the event has grown significantly from the first gala with 80 people that raised approximately $30,000.
Founded in 1984, The Samaritan Inn is a comprehensive homeless program that helps willing people gain dignity and independence. There are currently 161 residents living at The Samaritan Inn, of which 59 are children. Last year, more than 3,500 people who qualified for the program were referred to other services because there was no room at the Inn.
