Ridgeview Memorial Park to Host Memorial Day Ceremony

On Memorial Day, May 28, at 1 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway N, Allen, veterans from Collin County Freedom Fighters, McKinney VFW Lone Star Post 2150, and the staff at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow, will host their annual ceremony to honor the men and women of America’s Armed Forces.

Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops from McKinney and Plano will also join in. Memorial Day first began as a special day to honor those who had been lost in combat; today we honor all veterans who honorably served and have since passed on. Special recognition will be given to the two Sailors, two Soldiers, one Airman, and five Marines, buried at Ridgeview who died during the Wars in Vietnam and Iraq.

Master of Ceremonies – Jim Nichols, US Air Force, Commander, VFW Post 2150
Opening Prayer – Jim Caserotti, VFW Post 2150
Keynote Address – William “Bill” Dvorak  – US Navy Fighter Pilot, 1971 to 1978. Bill earned his “Wings of Gold” at Pensacola, Florida, and then became a Jet Pilot Instructor at Kingsville, Texas. He did a tour of the Western Pacific as an F4 Phantom Pilot aboard the carrier USS Coral Sea. He finished active duty as a fleet aggressor pilot, after attending Naval Fighter Weapons “Top Gun” School aggressor training. After the Navy, he became a Delta Airlines Pilot, got a Law Degree in his “spare” time, retired from Delta after more than 26 years, and then became a full-time Attorney. He served as Fairview Municipal Court Judge from 1994 to 2004.
