Report: Roscoe the Raccoon’s Life Saved by Judge’s Decision

TSB Community Links

The Heard Natural Science Museum’s raccoon, named Roscoe, can go back tho being a featured exhibit.

This, according to a Dallas Morning News story, took place Thursday when Collin County district John Roach Jr. judge granted the Heard’s request that he not be euthanized after biting a Heard Wildlife Sanctuary empoyee on her right index finger earlier this year.

A temporary restraining order had been issued last month to prevent Roscoe from euthanization. Roach granted a permanent injunction Thursday. Despite raccoons being considered high-risk animals for transmitting rabies, the story said, the Heard argued that he’s not a wild animal and isn’t high risk because he’s not exposed to other animals.

Roscoe has been in captivity at the wildlife sanctuary since July 2009.

TSB had recently debated the Roscoe situation, which you can view by clicking here.
