Raytheon Ordered to Stop Work on U.S. Navy Next-Generation Jammer

Electronic warfare designers at McKinney-based Raytheon have been ordered to stop designing a major product for the U.S. Navy, according to militaryaerospace.com.

Raytheon was awarded the Next-Generation Jammer project in a $279.4 million contract awarded earlier this month. But rival BAE Systems formally protested the award to Raytheon. BAE has also filed a formal protest.

According to militaryaerospace.com, Raytheon CEO William Swanson says his company is “very comfortable” about its prospects for keeping the NGJ contract. “This is not a competition that happened overnight,” Swanson says. “We feel very comfortable in their selection.”
