Poverty Simulation Comes to Collin College

CollinCollege-Logo_0To educate individuals about the realities and challenges of living in poverty, Collin College is offering a poverty simulation from 6-10 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the Collin College Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Boulevard in Frisco.

Free and open to the public and facilitated by Region 10 Educational Center, the interactive simulation is an experience where participants pretend to be members of a low-income community and try to survive four 15-minute weeks of poverty in a town setting with institutions including a police station, pawn shop, bank, social security office and church. Space is limited, and participants must register to attend. To register, visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/PovSimFall13. Contact the Center for Scholarly and Civic Engagement at csce@collin.edu or 972.881.5927 with any questions.
