An airport runway was closed late Wednesday morning after a single-engine plane made an emergency landing at Collin County Regional Airport in McKinney. It was still closed in early afternoon as personnel and equipment were working to remove the aircraft from the runway.
The plane is reported to be a 1959 Piper PA-24-250.
The incident occured at 11:55 a.m., according to the City of McKinney. The cause of the landing was an electrical power outage onboard that made the plane’s landing gear inoperable, the city said. The plane tried to put the landing gear down manually and when it touched down, the gear collapsed, so the plane slid to a stop on the runway.
There were no injuries.
