Texans for Fiscal Responsibility has endorsed Ken Paxton (R-McKinney) for Texas State Senate District 8, an open seat currently represented by Senator Florence Shapiro, who does not plan to seek re-election. District 8 includes all or portions of Allen, Dallas, Fairview, Frisco, Lucas, Murphy, Parker, Plano, Richardson, Sachse, and Wylie.
TFR President, Michael Quinn Sullivan, said, “With Ken Paxton, voters have a rare candidate who has cast politically courageous votes that have earned him the trust, respect and support of hard-working Texas taxpayers. We are incredibly excited about his candidacy and the impact he can have in the Texas Senate.”
“This endorsement reinforces my strong record of fiscally conservative votes during the 8 years that I’ve served as a State Representative. Every session during my time as a Representative I have consistently ranked near the top of TFR’s legislator scorecard, the ‘Fiscal Responsibility Index’,” Paxton said.
Paxton, who currently serves in the Texas House of Representatives Dist. 70, says he will take the same conservative principles that have guided him in the Texas House into the Texas Senate.
Paxton is member of the Allen Chamber of Commerce, Centennial Medical Center Board, Collin County Bar Association, Dallas Estate Planning Council, Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Marketplace Ministries Board of Directors, McKinney Chamber of Commerce, McKinney Rotary, and Stonebriar Community Church. He and his family reside in McKinney.
