Tim Patton has been named Chief Operating Officer at TAPS Public Transit, effective immediately.
TAPS CEO and Executive Director Brad Underwood made the announcement today. “We recruited Tim last year with the intention of strengthening the management team,” said Underwood. “Over the past eight months Tim has demonstrated leadership qualities and has been extensively involved in our agency’s expansion into Collin County.”
Patton said he sees an exciting year ahead as TAPS begins new service into the City of McKinney and Collin County. “Public transportation in Texas is evolving right now. Agencies like TAPS are learning to super-serve the core constituencies —the elderly, disadvantaged, and disabled— while developing new ways for employees to get to work, and students to class.”
Patton joined TAPS last October as Director of Grants and Quality Assurance. With the recent expansion of the public transportation agency into the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, CEO Brad Underwood feels the reorganization of the management team is a necessary change. “Over the next few months TAPS will grow nearly double its current size,” said Underwood. “Tim has proven himself a capable leader in his eight months at TAPS and his promotion to the number two position is critical to a smooth transition into Collin County, while maintaining our record of excellent service to our current riders.”
Patton said he sees the coming year as an exciting time for public transit in North Texas. “Public transportation in Texas is evolving right now,” said Patton, “agencies like TAPS are learning to super-serve the core constituencies —the elderly, disadvantaged, and disabled— while developing new ways for employers to offer low-cost, efficient transportation for workers, and educational institutions to get more students to class.”
Patton has lived and worked in the region his entire life. A graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma University, he brings to the job twenty years of executive experience in healthcare, business management and finance. He is also a successful small business entrepreneur. Patton lives in Texoma with his wife and three sons.
