One Dead After Police Involved Shooting in McKinney, TX

On September 23, 2015 at approximately 7:34 p.m., officers from the McKinney Police Department responded to a call for service regarding an adult female and child being held in a white van against their will. The van was found by MPD officers in the parking lot of the Cliffs of Eldorado apartment complex at 1300 Eldorado Parkway.

After officers made an attempt to take a male suspect into custody, a struggle ensued, and the suspect produced a handgun and shot at officers. The suspect was struck several times as McKinney Police officers returned fire. Medical units were called to the scene of the shooting; however, the suspect was deceased.

There were no other injuries and the deceased suspect has been identified as Joseph Khammash, a 35 year old male from McKinney, Texas.

“At the request of the McKinney Police Department, the Texas Rangers will be conducting this investigation,” said McKinney Police Department Public Information Officer Sabrina Boston in a release Thursday morning. “Anyone with information pertaining to this incident should contact the Texas Rangers at 214-733-5390.”
