Oklahoma State `Loyal and True’ Series Profiles ex-Bronco Branson

derek bransonFormer McKinney Boyd football standout Derek Branson said he turned down several scholarship offers from smaller programs because “most of the places had worse facilities than I did at (Boyd).”

So, he walked on, without a scholarship at for coach Mike Gundy’s program at Oklahoma State. Not only did he block a punt against Texas Tech, he also made an impression on the athletic department. OSU athletics recently posted an interview with Branson as part of its “Loyal and True” series of Cowboys athletes.

Branson, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound junior, plays fullback and special teams.
