At its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday, the board of directors of the North Texas Tollway Authority unanimously selected Gerald E. Carrigan as the NTTA’s new executive director, subject to contract finalization and board ratification. Carrigan has been serving as NTTA interim executive director since October 2011.
“Gerry Carrigan has performed extremely well over the past six months as our interim executive. He has clearly demonstrated the skills, experience and knowledge needed to successfully lead the NTTA,” said Kenneth Barr, NTTA chairman of the board.
“The board has seen significant progress and improvement in a number of critical areas, specifically employee morale and effective communications between the board of directors and staff,” said Barr.
Carrigan has been with the NTTA for over three years. He has more than 28 years of professional experience in the field of infrastructure program management, engineering, and construction management. Carrigan has been involved in the development and implementation of major capital improvement programs for state, county and tollway agencies.
While at the NTTA, during a period of tremendous growth, Carrigan has helped oversee several major mobility projects including the Eastern and Western extensions of the President George Bush Turnpike and the completion of a four-level interchange at the Sam Rayburn Tollway and U.S. 75 (Central Expressway). He also played a major role in the planning, engineering and design of the Chisholm Trail Parkway now under construction in Tarrant and Johnson counties.
“I have had the opportunity to work with a progressive board of directors and a dynamic and engaged staff. I look forward to moving the NTTA forward and fulfilling our transportation mission,” said Carrigan.
