By early morning on Saturday, Nov. 12, the North Texas Tollway Authority will open two additional ramps on the Sam Rayburn Tollway/Dallas North Tollway interchange, providing motorists on northbound DNT with direct access to the SRT.
Once the ramps are open, motorists traveling north on the DNT will be able to connect directly onto the northeast-bound and southwest-bound SRT main lanes.
This also means the NTTA will have opened six of the eight major ramps on the SRT/DNT interchange ahead of the planned completion date.
“The NTTA’s foremost goal is to improve regional mobility, and we are excited to be doing that by opening two more ramps ahead of schedule,” said Elizabeth Mow, the NTTA’s interim assistant executive director of project delivery.
On Oct. 31, the NTTA opened the first four connectors, providing all of the interchange’s links from the SRT to the DNT.
The last two connectors, which will link southbound DNT with the SRT, are expected to open to traffic in the next week, weather permitting.
Workers began construction of the five-level SRT/DNT interchange in February 2010.
Crews are working expeditiously to complete the remaining work. In the meantime, crews will continue to close DNT and SRT main lanes and frontage roads to finish critical tasks. Lane and ramp closures will continue each weeknight, during off-peak daytime hours and during the weekends as needed. For a listing of lane and ramp closures, go to the “daily general lane closures” listing at www.NTTA.org or call (214) 224-3030.
As with all construction activities, the scheduled ramp openings are subject to change.
