McKinney North Junior running back Ronald Jones continues to garner attention in 2013, and today, TexasFootball.com announced that Jones been nominated for the Gridiron Legends Player of the Week for week six. The award is presented by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
The award, which is given on behalf of Cavender’s and Wrangler, nominates 10 players for its statewide award. The award is 100 percent decided by fan voting.
Jones has been a dominate force on the field through six games in the 2013 season, and is ranked No. 6 in Dallas in 4A with 1,105 yards, and No. 2 with 20 touchdowns. Among the areas top-10 rushers, Jones ranks second in yards-per-attempt with 11.28 yards-per-carry.
Jones rushed for 325 yards and six touchdowns on 24 carries during the Bulldog’s 48-45 victory over Lovejoy Friday night.
Each weekly winner will be automatically nominated for the Player of the Year award, presented with Cavenders, Wrangler Retro and the Texas Bowl. Those candidates will be announced in Week 13, and voting for that award will continue until the end of the high school season.
