Former McKinney North standout Kathy Shelton and her Baylor softball teammates begin play in the Women’s College World Series on Thursday, June 2.
The Bears play fellow Big 12 qualifier Oklahoma State at 2:30 p.m. in its opening game of the double-elimination tournament at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
Shelton, a 2009 graduate from north, was unanimous 1st Team All-Big 12 and 2nd Team All-Region as a sophomore for Baylor this season. She leads the team in average and steals.
Baylor won the College Park, Md. Regional two weeks ago and defeated Georgia in last week’s Super Regional in Athens, Ga., to advance to the WCWS, which features the final eight teams remaining in the 64-team NCAA Softball Tournament.
