North Cruises Past Royse City 42-13 in First District Win

north-fc fb 1McKinney North knew it had to win, and win is exactly what the Bulldogs did, defeating Royse City 42-13 in Friday night’s District 13-4A football game.

The Bulldogs improved to 1-1 in district, putting them in a six-way tie for second behind first-place Denison.

North cruised through the first half, outscoring Royse City 28-6 in the first 24 minutes. North would go on to score 14 points in the final two quarters.

North’s offense led the way Friday night, racking up 522 yards of offense. Ben Dutze completed 12 passes for 203 yards and a score, and Ronald Jones rushed for three scores and 123 yards on 11 carries. Tre Smith chipped in, also, with 105 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Royse City was able to move the ball against North, especially on the ground, gaining 239 yards rushing and 109 yards passing.

North (2-3, 1-1) will face Lovejoy on Oct. 11 at Ron Poe Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
