Officers and members of LULAC Council 608, McKinney, met recently to plan this year’s celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month which commemorates the time when the majority of Spanish-speaking countries gained their independence from Spain.
Council President, Javier Oaxaca, announced that September 19 will be the date of a special program in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Well-known McKinney mexican restaurant, San Miguel Grill at 506 W. University Drive, is the location for the special meeting. The public is invited.
The program will begin at 6:30pm with McKinney ISD Superintendent, Dr. J. D. Kennedy, speaking for the occasion on the topic, “MISD and the Community” – ¡Sí Se Puede! LULAC members will present historical information about this 201st anniversary of Mexican Independence.
