Motorcyclists from the McKinney area are collecting toys and children’s necessities to deliver to patients in a Collin County children’s hospital following the Hometown Fourth of July Parade. The procession of motorcycles and toy-filled vehicles will leave McKinney mid-afternoon.
Collection boxes will be available at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, 3190 South Central Expressway #570, in McKinney beginning Friday, June 24, and outside the McKinney Performing Arts Center on July 4 during the city’s Hometown July 4th Parade. Immediately following the parade, members of several area motorcycle clubs including the Dirty Bastards DB Motorcycle Club, Bikers Against Road Rage, the McKinney chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association, and the Guardians of Grace, will travel to Fuzzy’s to pick up the donated items there before heading to Plano to deliver the “Christmas in July” items.
Organizers of the “Christmas in July” Toy Drive ask that donors remember:
–60% of the patients are under the age of 3.
–Teenagers also receive services at this hospital.
–Only new stuffed animals may be accepted as donations due to infection control policies.
–Gift cards are also welcomed from Wal-Mart, Target and Toys R Us.
–Large quantities of all games are needed.
–Highest need is for infant/toddler and Teens.
–Socks and underwear are also needed.
