More US 75 Closures in Store for McKinney This Week

Submitted by City of McKinney

As part of the ongoing TxDOT project to widen U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway to White Avenue in McKinney, TxDOT has informed the City of the following closures next week:

Monday night, February 18, 2013 – tentative date
U.S. 75 SOUTHBOUND ON-RAMP NORTH OF VIRGINIA PARKWAY
Closed at 9 pm until further notice
This on-ramp must be closed for an extended period to allow construction to progress in the immediate area.  During this time on-ramp traffic will continue on the southbound frontage road past Virginia Parkway to the on-ramp south of Virginia Parkway.  Expect additional delays at the Virginia Parkway intersection due to this increased traffic.  Some drivers may want to find an alternate route.

Monday night, February 18, 2013 – tentative date
U.S. 75 SOUTHBOUND FRONTAGE ROAD FROM SOUTH OF WHITE AVENUE TO NORTH OF VIRGINIA PARKWAY
Closed from 9 pm to 5 am
The southbound frontage road will be closed overnight to switch traffic to newly constructed pavement.  Detour signs will direct traffic by alternate routes.  The off-ramp and on-ramp will also be closed during this time.

Tuesday night, February 19, 2013, through Wednesday night, February 20, 2013 – tentative dates
U.S. 75 SOUTHBOUND OFF-RAMP TO VIRGINIA PARKWAY
Closed from 9 pm to 9 pm
This off-ramp, exit 40A, will be closed again, this time for 24 hours, in association with the traffic switch mentioned above.  Detour signs will direct traffic by alternate routes.

All dates are tentative depending upon the weather and other unforeseen circumstances.  As a reminder, this TxDOT construction project to widen U.S. 75 to four main lanes in each direction and three frontage road lanes in each direction will provide much needed extra capacity to the roadway.  The project is anticipated to be complete in 2015.

Please be safe when traveling through the work zone and always observe traffic warning signs.  If you have any questions, please contact Danny Still at (972) 547-7631 or dstill@mckinneytexas.org.  Thank you for your cooperation.
