MISD to Change Measurement for Student Performance in 2011-12

The 2011-2012 school year will mark a change in the way student performance is measured. The MISD secondary campuses have adopted a mastery learning approach to grading aligning with the changes in the Texas academic achievement requirements. During this school year, parents will receive information about changes and improvements to the way students earn their grades and qualify for graduation.

While these new requirements will be phased in over the next four years, MISD secondary schools are making the necessary accommodations to prepare for the projected and higher stakes rigor. The overriding goal is to increase academic rigor, adhere to changes in the state accountability system, and prepare students for post-secondary opportunities and higher education.
