Last week, McKinney ISD Superintendent Dr. J.D. Kennedy and Partners in Education Specialist Nancy Cowlishaw visited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County-
McKinney Branch to present a plaque in appreciation of the organization’s participation in the MISD Partners in Education program.
The Boys & Girls Club currently conducts a leadership initiative called Smart Moves with several small groups at Scott Johnson Middle School, and both the club and the district are looking forward to expanded future involvement.
“It’s great to have a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Collin County,” said Dr. Kennedy. “After touring the facility, I was so impressed with their program and what they offer our students after school. It’s great to have a partnership with on organization that cares so much about our students.”
The Boys and Girls Club serves approximately 700 McKinney kids through their programs, and more than 200 of those children participate in after school programs on a regular, daily basis.
