The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved Gordon Butler as the new Director of Program Evaluation for the District at their monthly board meeting in April. Butler, who currently serves as an assistant principal at McKinney High School, brings more than a decade of education experience to his new position.
As Director of Program Evaluation, Butler will primarily oversee district compliance with state and federal accountability standards; guide the District through new STAAR and End of Course (EOC) testing standards; and support campuses with data that drive the overall mission of improving student learning.
“I feel fortunate to have Gordon Butler as our new Director of Program Evaluation,” said Dr. J.D. Kennedy, McKinney ISD Superintendent.
“The accountability system in Texas and the federal government is quite complex. We need someone who has the wisdom and skills to truly monitor that and work with our principals in a collaborative manner. I feel that Gordon has the skill-set to carry that out. So, we’re delighted to have him join us as Director of Program Evaluation,” he said.
Butler came to McKinney in 2012 from Midlothian ISD where he served as assistant principal at Walnut Grove Middle School for three years. Prior to that, Butler taught World Geography and U.S. History at the Excel Academy Charter School in East Boston, Massachusetts and ESL Language Arts and Social Studies at Bowie Elementary and Cochran Elementary in Dallas ISD.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M-Commerce.
“I am excited to serve in a new capacity that focuses on making sure our data is supporting the work that our teachers and administrators are doing to increase student achievement,” said Butler.
