MISD Board Approves New Principals, Assistant Principals

The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees recently approved seventeen new administrative appointments for the 2012-2013 school year. Among those selected are names familiar to McKinney ISD along with some outstanding additions from other districts. Some of these educators are moving into new roles; others are simply moving to a new locale. All offer a wealth of leadership experience in vital administrative positions across the district.  


Alan Arbabi has been named principal of Dowell Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year. Arbabi currently serves as assistant principal at Dowell and brings more than 10 years of administrative experience to his new role. He has previously held assistant principal positions at Chickasha Junior High School in Chickasha, Oklahoma; Coyle Middle School in Rowlett and Scott Johnson Middle School in McKinney ISD. Arbabi received his master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Amber Epperson will lead Malvern Elementary as principal for the 2012-2013 school year. Dr. Epperson joined McKinney ISD in 2003 and has served as assistant principal, then principal of Webb Elementary; most recently, she has served as principal of Valley Creek Elementary. She received her master’s and doctoral degrees in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University – Commerce.

Megan Richards has been named the new principal of Valley Creek Elementary. Richards is a familiar face at Valley Creek where she currently serves as assistant principal. Prior to joining the leadership team at the campus, Richards spent several years in the classroom as a teacher at Valley Creek. She earned her master’s degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University.

Associate Principal

McKinney ISD is pleased to welcome Dr. Jimmy Bowser as associate principal of McKinney High School. Most recently, Dr. Bowser has led as an assistant principal at Lone Star High School in Frisco ISD. He also held assistant principal posts in Wylie ISD and Greenville ISD. Dr. Bowser earned his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University – Commerce and his doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas.
