MISD Board Approves 2012-13 District Goals

By Stuart J. Pearlman, TSB Staff

The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees held its first regularly scheduled public meeting of the academic year Tuesday night.  In addition to an update on the Campus Improvement Plan the board approved district goals for the school year.

Campus Improvement Plan

Superintendent Dr. J.D. Kennedy and Nancy James, MISD Chief Operating Officer, advised the board that ongoing construction at Faubion Middle School and McKinney High School caused no significant interruption to the start of the semester, despite requiring students to make some changes in the way they entered the buildings.

“Safety and security was our number one objective,” said James. “It was just regular school. The campuses were all excited about the work being done and looking forward to what’s going to be done. They all got in safely and without any problems.  It went very well.”

Dr. Kennedy further advised that the entire interior courtyard at Faubion would be under construction during the school year. “It is all blocked off with plywood so it won’t be a distraction to the kids,” he said. “There might be a little bit of a noise issue but they will try to limit that as much as they can.  Other than that Faubion is all set and ready to go. There is still a lot of work left to be done at both Faubion and McKinney High.”

2012-13 District Goals

Assistant Superintendent Mary Clark and Chief Accountability Officer Geoff Sanderson presented for approval MISD Administration’s proposed Superintendent Performance Objectives and 2012-13 District Goals (see below).  These were unanimously approved.

The next regular meeting of the MISD Board of Trustees is scheduled for September 25, 2012.
