Opening the 2013-2014 Collin Theatre Center season, Will Eno’s “Middletown,” a contemporary take on Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town,” will run from Oct. 3-16 in the John Anthony Theatre at the Spring Creek Campus in Plano, 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy.
The production probes into a deep, moving exploration of life in small-town America and the mysteries that lie underneath. The story begins when Mary Swanson, pregnant with her first child, moves to Middletown to enjoy the familiarity of small-town life. Little does she know, small-town life brings its own difficulties. These complications will have audience members searching for the meaning of existence in this strange and wonderful town.
Tickets are available online at www.collintheatrecenter.com. Students and seniors pay a discounted rate of $8. General admission is $10. Performances will run as follows: 8 p.m., Oct. 3 -5, Oct. 9-12; and 2:15 p.m., Oct 6, Oct 12-13.
The Collin Theatre Center production is directed by directed by Gail Cronauer, Collin College professor of theatre and will feature student actors at various levels across the theatre program, as well as a set design conceived by Collin College Technical Theatre Director Craig Erickson and constructed by students in technical theatre courses.
