Submitted MISD results from Thursday night’s middle school volleyball matches:
Dowell 8th Grade Faces Prosper
The Dowell Lionettes Eighth grade volleyball teams dropped hard fought games against the Prosper
The Blue “B” team lost their set in three battling games, 25-23, 25-27, and 11-25. Outstanding players
for these three games were Celia Hilsabeck for offensive, Gretchen Omholt for defensive player and
Ciara Kase for the all around player of the game.
The Gold “A” team also fought hard but lost in two, 15-25 and 22-25. Overall defensive player was
Mariah Kelty, outstanding offensive player was Parker Pinnell, and Megan Shevlin for overall player of
the game for her digs, serving and kills.
Closing out the evening, the White “C” team finished with a loss in two, 11-25 and 13-25. Outstanding
all-around players for these matches were Isabel Pate for offensive player, Kailyn Sheahen for defensive
player and Paige Nicklas for overall action and consistent play.
Next set is against the Cockrill Cowgirls on September 20th at Cockrill, starting at 5 p.m.
Dowell 7th Graders Take on Prosper
The Lionettes’ Blue team lost in two game to Reynold’s Middle School Eagles, 23-25, 19-25. Offensive player of the game was Ava Karl for great sets. Defensive player was Lexi Kraft who covered the middle well. Overall Player of the game was Madeline McDonald with some great defensive plays as well as effectiveness on the net.
The Gold team lost 18–25, 15–25. Offensive player of the game was Megan Carney with backrow attacks and serves. Defensive player of the game was Sibley Turrentine for great passing in the back row. Overall player of the game was Macy Sullivan for great play all the way around in the second game.
The White team lost 25–17, 13–25, 19–25. Offensive player of the game was Courtney Creedon for outstanding serves. Defensive player was Hannah Taylor for great passing. Overall player of the game was Grace Wallace great skills and leadership on the court.
The Lionettes’ next match will take place against Cockrill at home on September 20. The Blue team will take the court first at 5 p.m., followed by the Gold and White teams.
