Middle School Volleyball Scoreboard: Dowell in Action

The Dowell eighth and seventh grade teams played Prosper Reynolds on Thursday night.

In eighth grade action, the Blue “B” team won their set with momentum in two games, 25-15 and 25-11. Outstanding players for these three games were Melody McDonald for offensive with 5 pivital serves and Carson Lower for defensive player with 5 saves and a HUGE bench save. Courtney Primeaux was the overall player of the game with 4 aces, 5 assists, 1 tip and team leadership.

The Gold “A” team plowed down the games in decided fashion, 25-15 and 25-12. Overall defensive player was Emily Crawford with 5 targeted passes and floor coverage, outstanding offensive player was Jillian Duffin with 11 killer serves, 2 aces and 3 tips, and Emmy Morin was the overall player of the game (and season) with her final game as a Lionette with an Ace and a tip.

The White “C” team closed with quick set, 25-8 and 25-11. Outstanding all-around players for these matches were Jillian Brusa for offensive player with 10 serves, 2 aces, 2 kills and 2 tips, Mandy Wallner for defensive player with 3 save digs and Alyssa Raab for overall action with teammate leadership and raising the bar.

Next set is against the Highland Park Highlanders on Thursday, October 6th, starting at 5 p.m. at Dowell.

In seventh grade action, all three Lionettes’ teams came out on top to sweep Prosper in three out of three games. The Blue team came out in the first set showing a new and improved squad in a 25-15, 25-20 win. Julia Hoyle was offensive player of the night again, going on a 12-point service play run. Emma Feldman had a great defensive effort providing low passing errors and good court coverage for the team and Mikayla Kuehne was our overall player of the game, providing consistent coverage and all-around control throughout the evening . This win puts the blue team with a 2-3 overall record.

The Gold team rolled out into victorious fashion, 25-19, 25-22, winning both sets to claim a 3-2 overall record.  Ashley Ladd consistently playing every position well was named overall player of night. Karly Kaufman came on strong with a great defensive effort providing tip coverage and well-timed blocks at the net. Danielle Boggs raised her offensive game last night with consistent serving  and hits to take offensive player of the game.

The White team came out on top against Prosper to win it in two sets, 25-14, 25-22. Bailey Harrison surprising her team and coaches came out strong with 8 service points in the first set to earn offensive honors for the night. Cecilia Clark played a fierce game of defense and hits to keep our team on top – she earned defensive player of the game. Alex Baldridge raising her game to another level played smooth and controlled to lead our team to victory taking away overall player honors for the night. This brings White team’s record to 4-1.

Our next game will be played at Highland Park against the Highland Park Eagles. The Blue team will take the floor first, starting at 5 p.m., followed by the Gold and White teams.
